About Me

I am a Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Bangladesh, specializing in sustainable urban development, environmental planning and management, climate-resilient planning, and the application of geospatial technologies for evidence-based decision-making. My research and professional work integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), photogrammetry, spatial analytics, and urban planning to address complex challenges related to rapid urbanization, climate change, environmental sustainability, and resilient infrastructure.

My research interests include Sustainable Urban Development and Planning, Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for Climate Adaptation, Climate Change and Urban Resilience, GIS, Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis, Urban Environmental Management, Smart and Inclusive Cities, Spatial Decision Support Systems, Urban Climate Analytics, Land Use and Land Cover Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Digital Geospatial Technologies. I am particularly interested in transforming Earth observation data into practical planning tools that support resilient, low-carbon, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable cities.

Alongside my academic career, I have extensive professional experience as a consultant and technical expert in nationally and internationally funded development projects. I have served as Team Leader, Urban Planning Specialist, Urban Environmental Management Expert, Disaster Management Expert, and GIS & Remote Sensing Specialist in projects funded by organizations including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), GIZ, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and numerous government agencies in Bangladesh such as the Urban Development Directorate (UDD), Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), and Rajshahi City Corporation. My consultancy work has involved comprehensive development planning, urban master planning, climate resilience assessments, environmental management, urban heat mapping, geospatial database development, UAV-based spatial data acquisition, disaster risk assessment, and capacity development for local governments.

I actively collaborate with universities, research institutes, development partners, government agencies, and consulting organizations on interdisciplinary research and applied projects. I welcome opportunities for joint research, international collaborations, externally funded research projects, postgraduate supervision, professional training, and consultancy services in urban planning, geospatial technologies, climate adaptation, and sustainable urban development.

I am also a member of the Bangladesh Society of Geoinformatics (BSGI) and the Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP).  Currently, I serve as an expert member of the teacher selection boards of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Jahangirnagar University and Khulna University.
